Description

The safety and environment departments key objective is to support the company wide safety and environmental activities ensuring continuous improvements are made. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate management systems in line with company and legal objectives.

Safety & Environment Co-ordinator

The safety and environment departments key objective is to support the company wide safety and environmental activities ensuring continuous improvements are made. They are responsible for establishing and maintaining appropriate management systems in line with company and legal objectives.

Key Role & Responsibilities
Provide engineering support to departments to effectively implement safety solutions to noise, vibration, air quality and ergonomic issues
Provide advice and verification to departments on safe systems of work, effective control systems for equipment and projects at specification, and throughout their production life
Interpret equipment and process standards and specifications and communicate to relevant areas
Participate in the company ergonomic improvement team
Write, review and communicate changes to company policy in response to changes in the law, guidance, and company processes
Manage department projects utilising both internal and external resources to achieve objectives
Work with departments to ensure compliance to legislation and manage visits from external auditors and regulators
Develop, organise and deliver training to all levels and functions of the organisation
Participate in practical department activities and internal audits and safety tours

Qualifications:
Minimum degree level in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or recognised apprentice scheme
Minimum GCSE Grade C in Maths and English (or equivalent)
NEBOSH safety certificate

Experience:
Experience as an Safety and Environment representative/administrator is advantageous
Practical experience in production support or engineering environment
Good communication and presentation skills
Ability to create detailed and effective action plans to set objectives and targets
Ability to use own initiative to meet deadlines
