Our customer is a leading supplier of Emission Control Systems. They are supporting a global, diverse technology leader and the World's largest and most successful engine company. The Resident Engineer will be based on site at our clients premises in Peterborough.
POSITION SUMMARY
The primary focus is on overall program management and the technical interface with the
customer and internal departments. This position leads the new product introduction through the use of our systems centered around APQP and TS16949 procedures and activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute project management for new/existing projects. Lead the NPIS and APQP
teams from concept through production, both internally and externally with the customer.
Direct and promote technical communications between organization and customers.
Drive activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering
design problems and meeting technical targets.
Ensure compliance between customer drawings/specification and Automotive standards
and capabilities by acting as the single point of contact for design and technical program issues.
Direct Resident Designers and coordinate prototype activities within Automotive with
the assistance of the Program Engineers.
Drive designs for manufacturability and cost effectiveness through the use of design reviews that include manufacturing and customer input. Oversee and coordinate all designs and ensure proper sign-offs have occurred. Achieve documented design signoff with all internal engineering departments: materials, hot end, cold end and system integration for major design release phases.
Lead all phases of technical program timing from initial designs to design release for product
launch. Including all timing related to product validation and on site customer testing.
Champion Total Value Management (cost savings) initiatives involving your program.
Lead and support manufacturing production facilities in value engineering / value analysis.
Lead and track all engineering changes, corrective actions and customer concerns through direct communication with commercial and manufacturing through use of internal systems.
Coordinate development engineering team with the DVP&R and testing by acting as the
interface between the customer, program engineering, and manufacturing for information and timing.
Evaluate and coordinate customer needs for new technologies.
Manage overall program resources and expenses to meet budget requirements.
Represent client on site full time (or on call) at customer locations, including assembly plants.
Frequent travel to customer, supplier, and customers automotive manufacturing locations.
Support and adhere to TA EH&S policies and procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• BSME Degree required, advanced degree preferred.
• Automotive background required
• Manufacturing experience preferred
• Development engineering experience a plus
• Working knowledge of personal computers, perform spreadsheet calculations, graphics,
program management, and word processing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential.
• Ability to travel to suppliers, plants, and customers to support development requirements.
• Knowledge of exhaust engineering is desired.
• Knowledge of engineering predictive and analytical tools is desired.
