Description
The Reliability Engineer s principal role is to analyse designs presented by the project, to quantify the results in reliability terms and to recommend improvements to those designs, where possible, to improve the reliability.
As part of the Reliability Engineering Department, the successful candidate is expected to carry out Reliability engineering activities in support to the Project System teams within the various business units. The Reliability aspects are the principal, but not the sole activities, and the successful applicant will have particular involvement in the following:-
Performing all required Project RAMS tasks whether at System, Payload/Platform or Equipment level.
Support the updating of in-house Plans and procedures related to RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety).
Performing trade-offs and redundancy optimisation studies.
Supporting the synthesis of relevant RAMS budgets.
More specifically, the engineer will be required to perform tasks such as:
functional analysis, risk analysis, reliability, availability and maintainability analyses, FMECA, HSIA, Fault Tree analyses, safety assessment/hazard analysis, the production of Reliability and Safety Critical Item list
Working knowledge of reliability software tools such as Relex would be an asset.
Be willing to travel & work for short periods in France or Germany.
Participate in ongoing implementation of trans-national harmonisation of RAMS software tools, methods & processes.
Participate in R&D activities.
Participate in proposal bids.
Manage their own time and budgets in accordance with project and department requirements.
The Reliability Engineering Group is involved in the complete lifecycle of RAMS activities associated with Spacecraft and its constituent parts. These range from requirements capture, support to system engineering, design optimisation, and the production of the necessary analyses to meet Customer requirements.
Essential:
Engineering honours degree in maths, electronics, physics or other appropriate subject
Good awareness of reliability engineering processes (relevant work experience in the Space/Aerospace engineering domains)
Good communication & presentation skills

Experience in reliability/safety engineering for Space or Aerospace projects
