Description
Based in Portsmouth or Stevenage
An RF Systems Engineer is required to perform design activities in the field of telecommunications. This cutting edge work encompasses: technical proposal writing; design and analysis in support of commercial bids; system design for ongoing and potential future studies; contribution to strategic analyses to support the generation and maintenance of a product development plan.
The successful candidates will have:
ONC/OND or BSc qualification in a relevant discipline
Ability to generate innovative solutions and to communicate them
A methodical approach to work, with sufficient commitment and drive to complete tasks
Strong analytical skills
Experience of working directly with customers and the ability to present complex ideas and concepts with authority.
Ability to efficiently organize and co-ordinate their work.
A willingness to travel overseas
Specific Tasks to be Undertaken:
Specific tasks are likely to include several of the following:
Contribution to technical proposal writing including supporting the engineering aspects of communication payload proposals and studies
Supporting the company in direct discussions/negotiations with customers
Supporting the management and coordination of RF systems tasks on communications payloads during bid and customization phases
Communications system/payload requirements analysis and trade-offs of payload architectures
Communications payload RF system design and performance analysis
Support to equipment specification development
Support company strategy to develop and maintain a payload product plan
Liaison with customer representatives and participate in early stage design reviews and discussions
Experience required:
Mandatory:
A proven track record in RF communications systems or equipments, gained in a professional position.
Desirable:
Experience in one or more of the following:
Space borne communications system design and analysis
Payload system design and analysis
Technical proposal writing
Strategic planning and product development
Payload equipments design/build/test (e.g. HPA, LNA s, DSP s, RF Filters, Antennas)
Digital and analogue communications, system, sub-system, and equipment specification writing
Payload integration, validation and test.
Tools/Equipment
Mandatory: PC literate, MS Office
Desirable: Matlab, Visual basic, ADS

ONC/OND in an Engineering discipline or BSc in Engineering/ Electronics/Science/Mathematics
Desirable:
Higher degree in Communications/Aerospace Engineering
