RF Design /Test Engineer - Berkshire

The will involve the design, development and testing of RF transceivers for WiMAX wireless broadband access. This challenging role is part of the hardware design group.
Development and testing of transceiver subsystems from specification, schematic capture through test/verification and documentation.

Key skills required
Detailed knowledge of RF engineering and associated design techniques up to 5GHz including Voltage Controlled Oscillators, Phased Locked Loops, Low Noise Amplifiers, Power Amplifiers, antennas and filter design.

Familiarity with RF measurement techniques, Network analysers, Spectrum analysers, Oscilloscopes, signal generators, RF Power meters.

Proven prior experience in the development of complete RF Subsystems

Excellent knowledge of RF transceiver architecture & design, preferably relating to broadband wireless/cellular systems or broadcast technology

Knowledge of Antenna systems & EMC

RF PCB layout techniques and ability to advise/identify layout issues early in development phase

Good knowledge of digital/analogue technologies

Experience of hardware reliability & conformance issues e.g. MTBF, EMC

Applicants should have significant previous RF design experience (3-5 years) and will be qualified to degree level, ideally though not necessarily in an RF-related discipline.

Automated test experience related to communication equipment.

Participation in reviews and input to other areas e.g Manufacturing etc.
Help to create estimates for new projects.
Create specifications for RF components & sub-modules,Ensure proper test, debug & verification of hardware prior to release as required by functional specifications.
