Whichever role you take, one of your biggest challenges will be to translate and adapt UK methods and standards into safe, workable solutions in overseas environments where conditions can be significantly more difficult and challenging.

This means that as well as technical experts the elite of their field were also looking for personable professionals. Credibility, commitment and qualifications will need to sit alongside excellent communication and man management skills. Because not only are you managing the projects as they happen, wherever they happen; you may be discussing them with diplomats and officials at the highest level.

Quantity Surveyor
£27 - £37k

An experienced Quantity Surveyor, youll be comfortable with all aspects of pre and post contract works and will work closely with project managers on a variety of projects. As well as helping improve our ability to accurately forecast future projects, there will also be the opportunity to lead as project manager on occasions.
You will need to adapt to overseas conditions, advising on pricing/costing levels, procurement routes, and contract administration. This is a key role in delivering accurate cost control on projects for the FCO and so we need a surveyor with a degree or MRICS qualification, a good all round knowledge of building construction and significant practical experience.
