Quantity Surveyor
Derbyshire

Job Purpose:To prepare project bids, letting sub contractor packages and monitoring the financial performance within the concrete products and construction direct division.

Key Interfaces:
Concrete Products Team, Managers
Accounts and Credit Control Clients

Type/value of Projects:
Design & Build Building Projects (Sports Halls and Schools) valuing £100k - £2 million

Responsibilities
1.Contracts and Tenders

•If required assess contractual implications of tenders to be submitted.
•Respond to letters of intent / sub contract orders / credit check clients as required.
•Vet all proposed forms of contract / sub contract.
•Monitor the timely submission and payment of valuations.
•Negotiation of F/A settlements.
•Vet/negotiate warranty agreements and arrange execution.
•Vet/negotiate performance bonds and arrange execution.
•Vet/negotiate retention bonds and arrange execution.


2.Client Relationship

•Attend pre contract and mid-bid meetings.
•Attend F/A meetings.
•Attempt to establish standard terms and conditions for use with clients we do repeat business with.
•Attend progress meetings and co-ordinate works on site with clients.


3.Site Records

•Chase and despatch site records as required.


4.General

•Agreement with clients of final accounts for works executed and the evaluation of variations for additional or abortive works.
•Ensure maximum payment is achieved for work done. Produce documentation for submission to clients to support applications for payment.
•Ensure payment is obtained in the shortest possible time.
•Provide elements of financial control to ensure correct payments are received.
•Generation and evaluation of claims for the recovery of monies in dispute and to counter claims submitted by clients.
•Prepare weekly Cost Value Reconciliations for approval by Discipline Managers.
•With accounts dept prepare monthly accounts for approval by Discipline Managers.

5.Key Skills

•Ability to work on own initiative and manage own role of Quantity Surveyor
•Must have previous experience in a QS role in general building in the commercial markets with a main contractor
•Ideally would like someone with a bit of estimating experience
•Ideally have experience of working with ground works and reinforced concrete modular buildings
•Relevant QS qualification

•Confidence to hold mtgs with clients and deal with issues with contractors/site workers as necessary

For the right person, our client offer a strong remuneration package -
dependant on experience £35 - £45k, 25 days holiday, plus shut down
inbetween Christmas and New Year (usually 3 days), car allowance or a
