Reporting through the Operational Quality Assurance Engineering Lead to the Quality Manager. The PQE will be responsible for monitoring, analysing and improving all aspects of Operational Quality Assurance, but with particular attention to Programme adherence through process implementation in accordance with Company processes.
Description of Program
Our Client is responsible for the provision of a communications solution for Land, Air, and Sea platforms in accordance with the requirements of the BOWMAN contract. This is achieved through the assurance and provision of activities such as Concept Exploration, System Design and Integration, Fielding and Delivery (Installation Design and Certification including Qualification and testing of platforms), and Training, together with associated Support activities.
Our Client programme delivers operational capability that meets the contracted needs of the MoD. This is based on a field-proven system, integrated with new or enhanced products utilising products developed by SME's in support of the MoD's Defence Industrial Strategy.
Purpose of Position
Reporting through the Operational Quality Assurance Engineering Lead to the Quality Manager. The PQE will be responsible for monitoring, analysing and improving all aspects of Operational Quality Assurance, but with particular attention to Programme adherence through process implementation in accordance with Company processes.
Will also include the development and improvement of Operational Quality Assurance Processes and supporting process improvement in other business areas.
Responsibilities
Generation of Programme Quality Plans which define the Operational Quality Assurance activities in relation to the programme.
Supporting the tailoring of the company Integrated Product Development Process to suit the programme and contractual needs.
Performing programme audits at agreed points in the project lifecycle. Including audits at sub contractors to ensure that the appropriate systems are in place and interfaces are defined.
Consultancy and support/advice to Programme Managers, Engineering and other business areas as required.
Attendance at selected key reviews in accordance with agreed plans, including reviews at sub contractors. (Depending on size of development and risk etc.)
Review of key program plans and documents including sub contractor produced documents.
Ensure that sub contracted activities such as design and development of software, hardware and networks for installation are undertaken in accordance with the sub contracted requirements.
Ensure that Non-conforming products, services and processes are investigated and effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
Supporting Bid activity in pursuit of new business opportunities by preparing draft Quality Plans and creating cost inputs related to programme quality activities.
Support the development of internal processes to ensure that the QMS operates effectively and to business guidelines.
Promote quality awareness within programs.
Prepare quality reports, for internal and external purposes.
Undertake analysis of audit findings to establish trends and root cause analysis.
Represent GD Quality Assurance at Customer/Supplier meetings as required. To carry out surveillance of subcontractor QA activities
To monitor and review progress
To ensure that problems are addressed and appropriate corrective action taken.
Education/Experience
HNC/Degree in an Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience
Substantial knowledge as a Quality Engineer.
Lead Assessor qualified.
Software knowledge in relation to CMMI and TickIT environments.
Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation.
Excellent knowledge of ISO9001:2000 and Defence/Military standards at a working level
