Description
Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical and fibre-optic, connection components and solutions for harsh environments (aerospace, military, autosport etc.). They have the requirement for a Quality Engineer to work in their Standards Room, providing First Line Article Inspection of component parts and final assemblies. The successful candidate will also provide calibration records for production tools and jigs, and root cause investigation on defect product.

The successful candidate will also provide calibration records for production tools and jigs, and root cause investigation on defect product. Candidates should have experience in a similar role, incorporating mechanical measurement devices. A good knowledge of computer systems is essential.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
1.To perform first article inspection of assembly piece parts and final product using a range of contact and non-contact measuring equipment.
2. To undertake calibration measurements and maintain calibration records of company owned production tools and equipment.
3. To perform technical investigation of failed assemblies and in liaison with Engineering personnel to establish failure modes.
4. To co-ordinate the completion of corrective action reports into quality issues working with members of other departments as required.
5.To maintain quality documentation in a neat and methodical manner.
6. To assist in other Quality Department activities as required.
7.To observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation.
8. To carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND BACKGROUND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in using computer systems is essential.
Must be familiar with mechanical measurement techniques and be able to use electrical and mechanical measuring equipment.
Must be capable of reading BS8888 (BS308) drawings.
Good general education to GCSE level.
HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical qualifications would be an advantage.
