Quality Engineer
Exciting opportunity to join this major Defence player in the Bedfordshire area commutable from Luton, Bedford, Hitchin, Stevenage and Milton Keynes. The Mission Assurance Department is increasing the Quality Engineering staff levels. They are seeking quality professionals to join their team. The successful candidates will be assigned roles within the organisation on key programmes ranging from development programmes, supplier quality assurance activities as well as build to print contracts and in service support.
The tasks will involve development and management of contract requirements capture and flow down matrices, participation in peer inspections & reviews as part of the Product Development Processes, leading Process and Product Audits, leading Failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis, both on site and at key suppliers facilities. Participation in Material Review Boards (MRB), Configuration Control Boards (CCB). You will be a highly motivated self-starter, and a dedicated team member who is customer focused, detail orientated. You will possess good written and communication skills.
You will be expected to travel on company business as part of your duties to both UK and overseas supplier.
ESSENTIAL Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (MCQI).
Professional experience in a similar position.
Conversant with requirements of AQAP 2105 for deliverable quality plans.
Conversant with requirements of BS EN ISO 9001, AS9100 series.
Good IT skills in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word & Access.
Shall have excellent interpersonal skills and extensive experience of dealing with suppliers.
Participate in product design reviews, testing, configuration control, problem reporting and resolution, and change control.
Conversant with root cause analysis tools and techniques.
Utilize measurement and statistical methods to identify quality trends and potential risks.

Desirable Experience
Have a background in Defence / Aerospace product development
Familiar with Lean & Six Sigma Principles of continuous improvement.
Previous experience in a research, development and manufacturing organisation on MoD contracts would be highly desirable. Familiar with Configuration Management processes as defined by Def-Stan 05-57.
