Up to £50,000 DOE Plus Performance-related Pay, Annual Bonus, Pension

Our client is part of a multinational conglomerate and is a global supplier of commodity chemicals to customers worldwide. The company has established a premier reputation amongst its blue chip customer base by providing high levels of customer service from its manufacturing plants. A commercial, qualified Purchasing Manager is required to join their highly regarded, robust and sophisticated procurement function, which has an annual spend of c£40m.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement (for whom you will regularly deputise), as the Purchasing Manager your remit will be to ensure our client achieves their business targets both now and in the future by developing key strategic supplier relationships which are built on mutual trust, integrity and respect.

Leading the purchasing strategy, you will also take a long term, strategic view whilst negotiating effectively in order to optimise the bottom line and financial performance of the business.

To succeed as the Purchasing Manager you will need a personable style that enables you to engage and influence people at all levels within supplier companies. An understanding of the strategic importance of procurement is essential in terms of influencing key business drivers for success.

Additionally, you must have proven commercial acumen, and strong influencing, analytical, numerical and relationship building skills. The ideal candidate will also have a degree (or equivalent) and will be CIPS qualified.

Although not essential, Pan European experience of procurement gained in the chemicals, aggregates, paper, energy/utilities, FMCG pharmaceuticals, and other major industrial sectors will be advantageous.
