Seeking to recruit a Proposals Engineer to strengthen the sales team. Heavy materials handling experience is essential.

My client is part of a group of companies committed to providing solutions to customers in the heavy materials handling sector. Seeking to recruit a Proposals Engineer to strengthen their sales team.
JOB FUNCTION:
To prepare proposals in line with the customers requirements, whilst ensuring they meet the companys requirements in terms of the level if risk, and the technical and commercial objectives.
KEY OBJECTIVES:
- To ensure proposals are issued on time using the systems provided, and to ensure the proposed solution meets the customers needs and objectives.
- Liaise with suppliers of proprietary equipment
- Liaise with site installation contractors
- Maintain records of all work done in the appropriate company systems.
- Develop and maintain good, working relationships with the client at all times to establish his/her needs.
- Attend site visits
- Assist in sales visits to customer and present when required.
CORE SKILLS:
- Well established engineering background, preferably in bulk materials handling
- Good communication skills at all levels.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Professional selling skills
- Presentation skills
- Capable of utilising IT systems such as word, excel, access Auto-cad etc
- Commercial/financial awareness
WORKING RELATIONSHIP:
Communicating frequently with customers and supplier personnel at all levels.
Communicating frequently with sales team members and Market Managers

SPECIFIC SKILLS / COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Ability to use modern CRM computer based systems.
Skilled in the use of the Microsoft based software packages.
Knowledge of the materials handling industry.
Able to set priorities and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to work to deadlines.
Knowledge of industry standard Contract Terms and Conditions.
DESIRABLE:
Working knowledge of the principles of pneumatic conveying.
Microsoft Project Manager software package.
Auto-cad draughting software package
Construction Industry experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Higher National or a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must have experience in the preparation of proposals for the materials handling industry and must be commercially astute.
Experience of negotiating with customers.
Should be able to show experience of working as a team player
DESIRABLE:
Experience in pneumatic conveying technologies in the Iron & Steel Gypsum and Non-ferrous markets.
PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES / SPECIAL CONDITIONS REQUIRED:
Must remain flexible and when required prepared to work extended hours.
Overseas travel will be necessary but not on a regular basis.
