Description

A world-renowned organisation, currently the Prime Support Contractor to the Royal Navy, providing comprehensive through-life support for submarines, surface ships and equipment, requires a Project Planning Specialist.

Key Accountabilities

As part of a 'Transformational Planning Team' your role is to establish a Project Planning (networks) methodology through the development of Processes and Procedures drawing from global best practice techniques. Establish yourself as the Guru who can set the functional standard and coach Project Planners in making the transition to these Standards in a timely fashion. It is essential that this 'connects' with the other Planning specialists to achieve the overall goal of an Integrated Planning Process.

Scope Definition

Support, promote and utilise the Project Management data, from the Project Mgrs, in the development of the Networks. Such Project Mgmt data as Project Definitions and Scope, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Organisation Breakdown Structures (OBS), Cost Accounts and Estimates, Process Maps for Works and Trend Measurement and reporting requirements.
Ensure that our implementation is aligned to Global Best Practice.

Process Definition

Establish the current baseline standard being adopted across all Project Teams and publish.
Identify the Scope of Networks that require to be developed.
Be the custodian and maintainer of the Standard Network Library.
Populate the Networks with Resource Requirements such as man-hours, skills, materials, time fences, interdependencies WBS, OBS etc.
Capture the Process in minimal number of Procedures that gives clear and understandable guidance.
Establish an Aggregation process for the summation of data to provide Business Summary information.
Ensure connectivity from the Project Plans to the Sales & Operations Planning, Materials Planning and Waterfront Planning processes.


Establish Audit Programmes to drive the Quality of Implementation across the Teams.
Carry out Data Sampling analysis to identify conflicts, issues and opportunities for improvement.

Education, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

Planning experience in a major project environment.
A 'Guru' in creating and maintaining project schedules and Networks.
HNC or equivalent in engineering, manufacturing or business.
Competent user of MS toolkit particularly MS Project or equivalent planning tool (ideally, Primavera).
Experience of best practice project management techniques.
Experience of planning and data analysis in operational environments.
Experience of implementing measures to drive performance.
Experience of implementing various Metrics to drive performance.
Experience of implementing similar processes.
Proven ability to 'communicate' and operate at all Levels within the Organisation with minimal direction articulating clearly and concisely project status at any time.
