Project Manager
We are supporting a global, diverse technology leader and the World's largest and most successful engine company. Our client leads the field in the design and manufacture of high-performance engines. Their continuous development programme, dedicated to furthering engine design allows them to offer one of the most advanced and comprehensive ranges of purpose-built diesel engines available today. Staying ahead in a rapidly changing world is vital and to achieve this they need ambitious, talented individuals who have the potential to create, challenge, and deliver global objectives.
A vacancy exists for a requirements manager / product team leader in the Tier 4 team. Tier 4 is the next major engine emissions level, driving several NPI programmes for introduction to production in 2010 and 2011. For the first time they will need to use engine aftertreatment which brings a host of technical and commercial challenges and opportunities.
Overall we are seeking candidates who are values based leaders with a strong sense of accountability, commercial awareness, excellent team working skills, with personal drive and commitment to deliver the programme.
The Role:
Working directly for the NPI (New Product Introduction) Manager, the successful candidate will be required to define the requirements of the 4 cylinder engine and to make sure that the organization is developing the product to this definition
Typical responsibilities are:
Define the Product Objectives (including options offering) based on VOC (Voice of the customer) and VOB (Voice of the business), in order to optimize the competitiveness and resulting profitability of the product. The candidate will work closely with the NPI mgr and product manager, but takes first responsibility in definition of the POs
The Requirements Manager will provide a leadership role in working with all areas of the business (marketing, engineering, logistics, product support, manufacturing) to provide solutions for all trade-offs in Product Objectives and other conflicting requirements
Verify with customers (through sales and marketing) that POs are in line with expectations and competitiveness
Communicate the status of the Product Objectives to the broader organization in order to align the organization in a single direction
Responsible for the content and the timely implementation of the Engine Sales Manual
