Project Manager - PFI Education - £50m- Kent

A Project Manager is required for a Top 10 Building Contractor to oversee the constrcution of a £50m PFI Education project in Kent.

THE COMPANY
Is one of the top ten UK main construction contractors. The major projects arm of our Construciton division specialises in health, education, commercial, industrial, government, defence, pharmaceutical and retail. The company also provides a fully integrated mechanical and electrical service.

Recently my client have been successful in the procurement of exciting educational projects based in the South East and we are now looking to recruit a Project Manager be a part of this exciting and successful team.

REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will be expected to "Lead a team of people to complete a project , safely ,within time, budget and to the specified quality"

RESPONSIBILITIES

STAFF MANAGEMENT:
On going management of site team, Support individual learning and development, Identify training needs of individuals, Develop teams to improve performance, Implement disciplinary and grievance procedures, mediate in disputes, Responsible for requesting, transferring, interviewing and employing staff, approving probation periods and advising on promotion candidates. Procurement/ Management of materials Commercial Management, Interrogate procurement programme for construction needs, Report on sub-contractor performance for KPI's
Preparing strategies for risk and package allocation on a project, Ensuring programme requirements are met, Organise and attend close out meetings, Ensure warranties are scheduled and actioned.

COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT
Communication of strategic outlook on client/sub-contractor matters to senior site personnel.
Check and sign off instructions. (with surveying department). Ensure that adequate records are kept of all site activities to allow resolution of day works, accounts, disputes etc. Ensure the team have an understanding of the relevant risks and opportunities and are managing them effectively. Ensure the project commercial strategy is in place and managed. Check and authorise all submissions for client variations. Monitor all commercial correspondence. Ensure successful integration of the commercial department with operations and Building Services.

PLANNING
Programming & progress reporting. Ensure the works are managed to achieve best possible completion dates and mitigate any delays. Ensure the planning process is integrated into the project team ensure requirements are communicated in an appropriate manner. Agree planning strategy and identify all programmes that will be required, in consultation with Planner(s) and other site team members as appropriate.

DESIGN
Feedback design team performance and input into future selection. Ensure O & M manuals and As Built information is collated as required to achieve handover Quality. Ensure quality management is being carried out to comply with the procedures. Overall responsibility for all quality matters. Make Quality appointments. Ensure quality plan is produced and maintained.
Approve site-specific quality documentation.

THE PERSON
The successful individual will:

Have proven Project Management experience on £30M + build projects
Ideally have previous experience on Educational projects
Be an excellent communicator - verbal and written
Have strong IT skills
Be a team player
