We currently have opportunies for career minded Project Managers to have the best of both worlds; a challenging role with genuine career prospects and a quality of life that is hard to equal.
Following a number of recent business wins, our client is looking to build and strengthen its project management capabilities with the recruitment of additional Project Managers.
Projects vary in size from three months with a team of ten, to twelve month's duration with teams of 20-30. Typically you would have up to six direct reports and on larger projects work closely with a Lead Engineer who would hold technical authority for the project. You would be responsible for ensuring all resources are effectively utilized and for the timely delivery of the project to pre-agreed quality, cost and schedule standards. Motivation and management of project staff is an important part of the job.
As a Project Manager you will have full responsibility for the control of annual budgets of between £500k -£4m.
A high degree of client interface and account management will be par for the course. The Project Manager will maintain the client relationship utilising project management methodologies and processes and commercial acumen to ensure the successful delivery of all development projects. The ability to identify sell on opportunities is also paramount.
Skills required
We are seeking additional Project Managers, as such they can be flexible about the degree of experience a candidate brings. Applicants who have recently moved into project management and those with many years in such a role will be of equal interest, provided they bring a record of success and an ability to work effectively in a customer driven environment.
Mandatory:
A proven Software Project Manager with experience of the full development lifecycle, gained on at least one substantial software development project. More senior applicants will require a far more extensive background in this area.
A structured approach to project management
Experience of Risk, Issues and Opportunity Management
Demonstrable team leadership and customer management experience.
Desirable:
A background in software engineering is highly desirable
Use of Microsoft Project
Financial Reporting abilities, (ideally an understanding of Earned Value Management)
