A new opportunity has now arisen for a Project Engineer Customer Solutions to join a leading manufacturer and designer of hydraulic hoses based in Cambridgeshire. As the Project Engineer Customer Solutions, you will have project management responsibility for the design, the organization of prototypes and the commercialisation of customer specific system solutions. You will envisage the optimisation of the system design integrating company technologies as much as possible, investigating all possibilities for product innovation and focusing on lowest total cost for the customer. You will be responsible for contacting external suppliers and partners to determine the correct or the most suited system components, and to obtain quotations and lead time information for these components. You will have responsibility to communicate all project relevant information from and to the customer and control project timing and maintain budget responsibility for all assigned and approved projects. You will keep management, project team and customer informed of project status and progress. Liaison with customers, external suppliers and internal contacts at all levels on a regular basis is required and you will be required to review projects with the Customer Solution Manager for appropriate proceeding and priority setting.

Ideally degree level qualified or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience, you will have proven experience in the hydraulic industry or equivalent. Knowledge of CAD systems and of Microsoft PC Software, i.e. Microsoft Office and MS Project is essential. You will have strong engineering application attitudes and a good knowledge of CAD systems. You must be capable of planning, organising and implementing projects and good presentation skills are considered an advantage. Knowledge of hydraulic circuits is preferred. Work schedule varies as required to fulfil project requirements and international communications (approximately 10-15% national and international travel, mainly to customer locations, also to external suppliers and company manufacturing plants). You must be able to work with minimal supervision, recognise needs of the customer and plan resource requirements within the capability of departmental resources.
