An opportunity has arisen within the Submarines business for a Project Engineer, reporting to the Project Manager Astute within the Submarines Programmes Customer Facing Business Unit (CFBU) to cover a period of maternity leave. The focus of the Submarines business is the Design, Manufacture and through-life support of Nuclear Propulsion-related products, systems and services in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. This is a complex, safety critical business with a high profile within the local community. As a result of recent changes within the business and an ongoing change and improvement program, this key role requires a dynamic individual to work closely with and support the Customer Facing Business Units
Key Accountabilities
•Supports the CFBU Project Manager in delivering the overall Customer requirements ensuring that the overall project outputs meet these requirements.
•Interpret, confirm and acquire means to achieve Customer requirements, and develop and communicate the scope and specifications for work change.
•Accountable for supporting Project/Contract review and production of supporting reports.
•Implement effective Risk Management for the project.
Responsibilities
•Act as the management focal point for the work and provide the Project Manager with information necessary to control and manage the overall Project.
•Assist in the collation of estimates and plans for projects and contract amendments/variations.
•Prepare necessary reports/information to support the CFBU Business Review Packs.
•Report regular project status/progress.
•Implement and manage an effective Risk and Contract Register for the project.

Depth of Experience:
•At least 1 to 3 years working knowledge in a relevant discipline, preferably on project work (either an Integrated Programme Team, or functionally based)
At least 1 year working knowledge in the application of specific project management processes (e.g. cost or scope management
Must have a transferrable SC Security Clearance.
