PROJECT ENGINEER
Introduction
CDM Regulations identify the three main parties and roles as follows:-
Client role is to appoint Main Contractor and Planning Co-ordinator
Main Contractor role is to provide construction services
Designers can be employed by either Main Contractor or Client role is to provide buildable and safe design solutions.
Project Engineer
Responsibilities: -
Design Co-ordination Pre-Tender
Review Client's remit and brief the design Consultants accordingly, liaise between the Client and Designer as required, co-ordinate various Consultants and monitor their progress.
Maintain the Development File.
Produce the Handover File for the Construction Stage
Design Co-ordination Post Tender: -
Approval under the Planning Regulations if required including Listed Building Consent
Approval under the Building Regulations if required
Pre start Meetings Liaise with Project Manager, Site Manager, Programmer
Advise on Licences, Wayleaves etc that may be required
Review Designer's risk assessment
Attend Pre-start meetings
Attend Progress meetings
Attend SHE site inspections
Person Specification
Male or Female - background in Building Engineering/ Civil Engineering/Architecture/ Surveying
(Chartered status or equivalent)
Preferred Rail experience
Potential to achieve CRE status
Knowledge of CDM Regulations
Good Interpersonal skills - Ability to liaise between Professional Consultants and Client/ Client's Representatives
Knowledge and experience of works involving:-
Structural
Foundations
Groundworks ground reclamation etc
Deck structures
Primary Structure (columns, beams, stanchions structural walls etc)
Secondary Structure (grillages, beams, sheeting rails, purlins, rafters etc)
Retaining structures
Drainage below ground
Drainage above ground
Architectural
Fire Engineering
Roof covering
Cladding
Floors
Finishes walls, floors, ceilings
Doors
Windows
Walls internal, external
Civils
Piling
Sheet Piling
Retaining Structures
Embankment stabilisation
Land drainage
Temporary /Enabling works
Services
Power gas, electricity
M&E lighting, plumbing, small power, lifts etc
HVAC environmental control systems
Water supply, clean and foul drainage
