ROLE PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to provide technical expertise in hydraulic engineering products and applications. The role is within the Technical Team working in a variety of disciplines, using a range of skills in support of manufacturing requirements. Being part of a small team the position will require project management skills and decision making ability. The team environment requires a degree of flexibility that promotes cross functional operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Provide Hydraulic Expertise to internal and external customers.
• Operate 3D CAD (ProE) in support of the Product Design Engineer.
• Produce Standardised work and standard work instructions for Assembly and Test Best Practice.
• Perform customer visits to support the sales divisions with new business or problem solving.
• Produce Technical literature for internal and external information on products as required.
• Control projects of a varying nature, product design/modification and internal improvements.
• Support Production Test Rig development and design.
• Be involved in and run problem solving A3 and PDCA investigations
• Assist with the introduction of new products into the factory.
• Participate in the drawing change control process, producing, checking and releasing drawings.
• Load & Maintain JDE with BOMs inline with drawings and request - coordinate costings for quotation purposes.
• Perform Product Waiver Approval/Rejection taking advice as required.
• Maintain Project files for, VaVe, design and other functional projects, as required.
• Investigate, analyse and provide solutions to problems as they occur.
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost by, design, process, or procurement etc.
• Provide technical support for products supplied from Grantham past and present. Communicating both internally and externally with our companies Divisions and where required with Customers directly.
• Ensure that all current legislation is understood & applied to Grantham products.
• Provide Engineering support for Value Streams, by way of responding to problems as they occur on the shop or through requests for improvement and changes etc.
PERSON PROFILE (Person Spec)
• Educated to HNC or equivelant in a Mechanical Engineering discipline,
• Experience in Hydraulic systems, components, performance measurement.
• You will be self motivated and able to self manage to a point
• Ability to produce, read and check engineering drawings.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of mechanical engineering discipline preferably with hydraulic experience.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems using contemporary techniques.
• Knowledge of hydraulic component and preferably system function.
• Some ability to read hydraulic circuits.
• Keen and able to improve areas of weakness through informal and formal training.
• Good communicator, using all media.
