We are currently looking for a Project Engineer with previous project experience within the food industry to join a leading food manufacturer.
Main function
Purpose:Working in partnership with all functions of the business, the Project Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing capital projects, as well as improvements to the existing production processes across both sites.
Working Conditions:
Office environment.
Chilled food production environment - all areas of factory.
Engineering Workshop
Specialist training required:
Proven track record of delivering projects within a food manufacturing environment, to both timescale and budget
Experienced in effective prioritisation, demonstrating sound commercial awareness
Ability to communicate to and influence at all business levels
Good analytical problem-solving approach and numerical capability
Good written and verbal communication skills
IT literate , in particular CAD and MS Office
Duties & responsibilities
To design, manufacture and install equipment that will increase efficiency and yield, whilst also reducing labour costs and wastage, using proven and new technology.
To contribute to the Engineering strategy for the site, and the business as a whole. To look for ways to constantly deliver increasing operational and business performance, product quality and improved people management for their site. Ensure that continuous improvement projects are seen through to a successful conclusion.
To organise and manage external contractors; including permits to work and invoices/payments.
To liaise regularly with the Finance department, ensuring that all project/contractor costs remain within the department budget.
To actively champion Health & Safety, ensuring that a safe working environment exists for all employees and that, as a minimum, it meets the standards set out in the Company's Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
To conduct contractor risk assessments, ensuring that site Health & Safety regulations are adhered to at all times.
To ensure all employees are made aware of process improvements and have sufficient training and development in the required areas.
To work to agreed company engineering standards and formulate improvements where possible.
To uphold and exceed standards of product quality, food safety, hygiene and GMP within their area that are appropriate to an industry-leading quality food manufacturer.
To adhere to the Engineering Charter regulations, ensuring that standards of behaviour are upheld at all times.
