Programme Execution

Prepare and implement work schedules and programme planning, liasing with specialist areas across matrixed organisation

Accountability for programme performance

Monitor, review and prioritise work schedules with team and review programme resources

Monitoring, management and mitigation of existing and new risks

Manage and execute programmes from any part of the programme lifecycle.

Programme Manager (Sub Contract Management)

Responsibilities



Programme Execution

Prepare and implement work schedules and programme planning, liasing with specialist areas across matrixed organisation

Accountability for programme performance

Monitor, review and prioritise work schedules with team and review programme resources

Monitoring, management and mitigation of existing and new risks

Manage and execute programmes from any part of the programme lifecycle (Assessment phase, Development, Production, Support & Disposal)

Ensure requirements of contract are flowed down to the programme team with clearly defined tasking

Provide advice and work with team to resolve matters relating to costs, work schedules and technical issues as required

Regular reporting of programme progress 'actuals' against forecast: schedule; milestones; product cost; programme cost and estimate to completion to Senior Management

Manage sub-contractors and work partners to ensure contract requirements are achieved

Provide exception reporting to Senior Management as required and refer any key issues for advice and approval

Accurate forecasting of programme financial information, resource requirements and follow on business opportunities

Ensure the use of defined company procedures

Management of assigned company assets



Customer Liaison

Provide primary focus for Customer, communication and liasing to keep them informed of work progress to schedule and discuss issues arising

Ensure Customer satisfaction is maintained at all times

Manage Customer expectations, in-line with company priorities and capabilities
Follow on Business

Identify and pursue follow-on business opportunities

For both follow-on and new business development opportunities participate in pre-bid/bid stage discussions

Act as bid manager following the Programme Capture Process leading the team to meet Customer requirements, if required



Staff Management

As required by the business, be responsible for the management of all aspects of direct reporting Programme Managers, as identified in the PM Organisation Chart



Quantitative Data

Achievement of Programme financial targets (Booking, Billings/Cash, Margin)

Ensure achievement of Programme deliverables in line with Contract schedule of requirements, to correct cost, quality and deadlines

Meet customer satisfaction metrics



Education/Experience

Essential

Higher Engineering/Management qualification (e.g. HND, HNC, Diploma) or equivalent experience

Proven project/programme management knowledge

Broad knowledge of financial management

Team leadership

Business development

Leadership of multi-disciplined and matrixed teams


Desired

Bachelors degree or equivalent in Engineering/Management or equivalent experience

Current Programme Management related qualification (e.g. APM Practitioner, PRINCE2)/evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Defence and MoD knowledge and familiarity with MoD's acquisition process



Skills

Proven ability of time scheduling/phasing on complex programmes/portfolio of programmes

Strong budgeting/cost management ability

Proven practical application of risk management with high risk programmes/portfolio of programmes

Strong work content scope management ability on complex programmes/portfolio of programmes

Ability to lead large integrated project teams

Strong communication skills at all levels using a variety of methods and mediums, delivering accurately and in a timely manner

Financial acumen

Proven Commercial/technical astuteness and judgement

Strategic awareness
