Programme Manager - join this leading Defence organisation where you will be responsible for technical Lead activities for the development of Future Missile Solution products.
This role is commutable from Hatfield, Hitchin, Royston and Biggleswade.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
First report to the Chief Systems Engineer on one or more programmes providing technical lead, technical input and some aspects of Programme Management of the projects post-contract award and support to the tendering activities before this. Day-to-day people management for a distributed team initially leading to the aspiration for the development of a full-time team. Plan, control and deliver assigned projects or work packages, and make an input as required to cross-functional projects/investigations, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan. Carry out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability. Prepare a full range of bid documentation, specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained. Carry out investigations into a full range of problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
Ideal - Carry out team Planning, Risk management and Quality activities in assigned areas in line with all requirements and processes. Provide effective support to customers in assigned areas, delivering solutions to meet the customer's needs and requirements plus the programme plan. Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
General: Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline. Significant, relevant experience. In particular Project and Technical Management. Knowledge of Defence Systems an advantage. Substantial analytical and problem solving skills. Sound understanding of the System design process. Experience of Bid activities and Sales & Business Development activities an advantage.Good verbal and written communications. Must be willing to travel (ad hoc basis) to various locations within UK, EU and US to support work. Must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
