Production Engineer//Technician
A Production Engineer or Technician is required to provide mechanical assembly of one of products in the defence industry. You will have experience of mechanical assembly for products used either in harsh environments or in the military. Experience of Assemblies, Prototypes and press metal work is essential. You will have worked on small batch (one-offs). It is essential that you have good inter personal skills as you will communicate with other employees, sub contractors and customers. Educated to HND or Degree standard.
Responsibilities:
*Work alongside Design Engineers on projects to ensure all designs are produced with the most economic and suitable manufacturing techniques having been considered.
*To organise the design, specification or procurement of any tooling necessary to facilitate manufacture and quality Production .
*Ensure that the structure of the B.O.M. is such that a smooth transition occurs from concept through to purchasing and eventually kitting and assembly.
* To produce and maintain standard or rework routings / methods for all parts that have a manufacturing / assembly element.
*Approve drawings to ensure they contain enough information to facilitate manufacture / assembly.
*Establish lead times for assemblies on MRP that are consistent with timely stocking (JIT) of material and customer delivery requirements.
*Produce adequate process control documents where necessary.
*Develop 'partnership' relationships with key vendors in order to encourage concurrent / simultaneous engineering practices at all levels of manufacture.
*Provide support to operations and sub-contract suppliers by providing a timely response to any queries that arise from drawings or processes.
