Description
Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical and fibre optic connectors for harsh environments, based in East Sussex. They currently have a vacancy for a Production Engineer to carry out a wide range of assignments to improve efficiencies of manufacturing areas, by process, tooling or appropriate machinery. The role will encompass many Lean techniques and methodologies, Continuous Improvement and cost saving projects.

The role will encompass many Lean techniques and methodologies, Continuous Improvement and cost saving projects. Candidates should have a proven background in Production Engineering with suitable qualifications in either Production / Manufacturing disciplines or Mechanical Engineering.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
•To co-ordinate all necessary assembly activity for production areas as identified by the Production Engineering Manager.
•To investigate method improvement and cost saving projects in the manufacturing areas.
•To support Production/Sales/Engineering in the preparation/amendment of Process Specifications and Routings.
•To conduct process and concept FMEA's.
•To assist with the implementation of Lean Techniques' to new and existing processes within the production areas.
•To complete reports for capital expenditure proposals.
•To review cost savings in line with capital expenditure projections.
•To liaise with Engineering to ensure components are designed for manufacture.
•To remain aware of technical developments and review manufacturing methods.
•To train and develop colleagues and trainees as directed by the Production Engineering Manager.
•Present ideas and concepts to the Industrial Engineering Department for approval.
•Write specifications detailing the machinery requirements.
•Ability to run more than one project simultaneously.
