Description
A Product Planning Manager is required for a leading Ship power supplier for builders, owners and operators of vessels and offshore installations.
Accountabilities
Overall responsibility for the delivery of the effective and efficient planned inventories of S & B product ranges with regards to inventory targets and due date performance. Product planning team development to achieve the same.
Overall responsibility for the management of finished goods, kit, sub-assembly and supporting component inventories to meet set financial targets and to satisfy customer demands (actual and forecast) for new build, spares and refurbishment.
Overall responsibility for optimising, through best practice planning and effective team management/ leadership, capacity utilisation and the relevant S&B manufacturing sites(s).
Main Responsibilities
Create, develop, implement and manage key planning strategies, through the product planning team, to satisfy forecast and actual order books for new, spares and refurbished in line with corporate KPI's.
Develop the SAP R3 planning tools to support the product planning function and improve flexibility and adaptability whilst improving lead times and costs base. Develop and deliver on effective working networks within the company and the external supply chain to take commercial advantage wherever possible within the planning remit.
Develop, implement and report on key performance markers for the planning team and identify means and resource for continuous improvement in these areas.
Monitor and manage performance and adherence to the released schedule both internally and externally. Highlight weaknesses and opportunities for performance improvements and agree implementation with associated teams to affect positive change.
Effectively communicate performance to, and changes affected by, the product schedule to all internal customers.
Using system data and working as a team with Operations and all customer facing personnel, manage the load and capacity restraints in all manufacturing units.
Agree and manage the key communications schedule for product planning and ensure such communication is effective, concise and pertinent.
Manage overall inventories to achieve financial targets for stock turns and availability.
Lead the development of faster and more effective NPI (New Product Introduction) processes and ensure that change is effectively reflected in the key order books.
Develop communication and effective team working/ decision making with the core product personnel in CST, engineering, supply chain and operations.
Develop, implement and manage best practice in the planning process to support continuous improvement, cost down and lead-time reduction initiatives.
Education
A levels standard
HNC/ HND in operations management or equivalent.
Professional qualification in Materials Management/ Supply Chain Management.
