Description
Essential:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (1st or 2nd class honours) or similar subject, or equivalent HND/HNC.
Ability to use CAD/CAE tools, specifically IDEAS TMG.
Presentation and communications skills, document and specification writing, team working.
Principal Thermal Engineer
To achieve solutions (with some guidance) to structural or thermal analysis tasks and problems, as assigned by line manager and detailed by project work packages. Work within budgets and schedules. Communicate solutions effectively.
At system or component level, perform analysis, design/development and testing activities as appropriate.
Supervise and support junior engineers.
Familiarisation with company standards, procedures, processes and work practices.
Determine specification environments for subcontracted equipment, and review subcontract design and analysis.
Maintain design files for all work undertaken.
Support preparation of bids, proposals, work estimates and technical presentations.
Develop and improve working practices and methods.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:

Mechanical design and analysis skills

Programming experience (VB etc)
Previous Experience
Essential:
At least five years post graduate experience of mechanical engineering in space industry.
Desirable:
Rounded mechanical background including structural and thermal engineering.
Customer facing and supplier liaison skills.
Experience of test campaigns.
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
