An exciting opportunity has arisen within a fast growing life sciences company for a highly experienced Systems Engineer. The right candidate will be setting up a new team, so an extensive systems requirements/design/integration background is essential.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within a fast growing life sciences company for a highly experienced Systems Engineer. The right candidate will be setting up a new team, so an extensive systems requirements/design/integration background is essential.
The ideal candidate will have a strong electronics background, and will be providing systems engineering resource for DNA sequencing product development.
This position will involve:
Systems design in low noise analogue and multi-channel digital electronics. Biochip design including silicon biochip development.
Embedded signal processing, instrument control and data transfer to analysis packages.
Systems engineering from product concept through to customer delivery. Specification, electronic design, prototyping, test and evaluation. Apply electronics, software and engineering knowledge and proven skills in systems design and problem solving methodologies to produce products that meet performance specifications, quality requirements and cost targets that are introduced to the market place on time. Communication with biochip development and data processing disciplines and an understanding of all aspects of the system design are critical.
Be involved at all stages of the product development process, for example:-
To work with other members of the product development team to translate product requirements into engineering product specifications.
To conduct technical reviews during the development of new products.
To produce technical project reports for the product development team.
To support and trouble shoot the introduction of new products and in particular pilot batches into manufacturing.
To provide post-shipment technical support.
Requirements:
Extensive relevant systems engineering experience is required.
Low noise, current to voltage amplifier design.
Analogue to digital conversion and digital signal processing.
Design methodologies of electronic data acquisition.
Electronic Engineering CAD systems.
Proven track record in leading teams.
Advantageous:
Demonstrable history of working with sensitive detection systems.
Embedded software design.
First hand experience of DSP programming.
Knowledge of windows software design would be advantageous.
Desirable:
Previous experience of developing scientific instrumentation.
An understanding of Biology or life-science areas
