Principal Systems Engineer required for this leading developer of advanced radio & satellite communications solutions for both commercial & defence applications. Responsible from conception to completion, for the systems engineering aspects of design, development and/or production projects; within a defence communications centred business. Working closely with the PM team to achieve successful business acquisition (normally by competitive tender) and subsequent timely project execution.

Responsible from conception to completion, for the systems engineering aspects of design, development and/or production projects; within a defence communications centred business. Working closely with the PM team to achieve successful business acquisition (normally by competitive tender) and subsequent timely project execution.
Leading system engineering aspects of development on communications & Electronic Warfare tenders/projects typically worth c£1-15m. Ensuring systems engineering processes are employed throughout the project lifecycle and providing technical input to project estimating/controlling processes. Providing overall technical leadership of multi-disciplined engineering team(s). Requirements management of the technical aspects of the project and managing technical aspects of sub-contractor relationships.
You will have proven experience in a systems engineering role working on complex defence related or communications systems/platforms. Conversant in the specification of receivers, transmitters, signal processing and high level software as applied to equipment & systems in the DC - 3GHz frequency range. Good interpersonal skills to allow effective leadership of technical staff (leading design reviews), sub-contractors and customers. Understanding of requirements management including experience of working with stakeholders (internal and external) to elicit, analyse and negotiate requirements. Experience in Validation &Verification techniques.
Highly Desirable Requirement: Degree Qualified (although relevant experience more important). Technical specialist in V/UHF RF based military systems. Experience of defence contracting and the bid process.
Experience or preference for working with highly technically advanced products emanating from 'white sheet' research. Good appreciation of mechanical engineering including DFM, materials and thermal management. Experience of working on safety related applications. Working knowledge of project management, requirements and design tools, i.e. Microsoft Project, DOORS etc.
