Principal Stress Engineer required for this major defence player commutable from Hatfield, Stevenage, Hitchin and Luton.
The role will be to provide the following analysis services to Project and Customer:
Generate load cases and factors documents for major Project(s). Prepare and underwrite Structural Integrity Plans. Provide a "policeman" role in the subcontractor supply chain for structural issues. Underwrite structural performance for major Project(s). Effective management to deliver against Project's programmes within the agreed quality, time and cost. Identify structural risks and opportunities for the Project(s). Interface within the Company with Project's Chief Engineers, Ground & Air Trials Managers, Aircraft Integration Managers, and Design Authority Managers. Interface externally with MoD and external partners. Responsible for underwriting Projects Structural Analysis Team cost/technical and programme proposals. Carry out technical analyses and investigations (independently or through leadership of a multi-skilled project team) of complex problems, issues and opportunities to provide conclusions and implications. Provide and/or oversee technical support and troubleshooting responses in assigned projects and technical areas, or to operations and other functions. Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and corporate requirements within area(s) of specialism and keep abreast of changes which may impact the business.Provide technical input to bids for new business to facilitate the successful conclusion of bids. Supply expertise and consultancy support in specialist areas, including providing specialist input across a range of programmes, and to other functions/departments. Supply technical understanding and support in areas of own expertise, promoting a culture of best practice sharing and knowledge exploitation, and contributing to relevant overall engineering technical activities.

Ensure effective process governance in assigned areas, including developing the design of modifications and improvements to processes in accordance with relevant standards, best practice and developing needs.
The Senior Principal Stress Engineer will be Degree qualified or equivalent, plus substantial relevant experience with sound fundamental knowledge of mechanical engineering, stress and vibration analysis. Demonstrated capability for interfacing with customers. You can define, re-engineer and review Company Structural Processes.
The successful candidate will need food commercial and financial understanding. Negotiating and influencing skills. Strategic planning capability. Excellent problem solving skills. Highly developed communication skills: able to communicate verbally and in writing at Board level. Experience in engineering in defence or related industry. Well-developed planning and organisation skills and project management expertise. Able to provide technical leadership to others. Proven record in conducting successful technical investigations and research. Able to develop links with other technical specialists and to network effectively on an international basis. Knowledge and experience of Def Stan 07-85. Experienced in classical and Finite Element Structural Analysis and preferably has used the following tools, NASTRAN, PATRAN, MathCAD, Pro/Engineer.
