Our client is an Engineering company, focussed on customer-orientated applications. Skilled Software, Test Development, Mechanical and Electronic Engineers. Expert in System Design, Signal Processing, Software Development, LabVIEW, TestStand, Test Development and Mechanical Engineering solutions.
Responsible to the Engineering Manager, the Principal Software Engineer will
be an active design engineer, having responsibility for developing bespoke test systems
for a variety of applications.
Tasks would include:
- Primary responsibility is design and development of bespoke automated test solutions, for some of the following applications: Telecoms, Optoelectronics, Semiconductors, Automotive, Aerospace, Wireless and RF.
- Working closely with external customer and Sales during the technical assessment a quotation stages.
- Primary engineering interface to the customer during definition, development, design review, commissioning and on-site installation stages.
- Experience of successfully team leading small projects (1 to 5 people), to agreed specification, timescales and budget.
- Design of automated test system software and hardware (electrical and electronic), as required. Use of bought-in hardware as required.
Experience and Personal Characteristics:
- Broad experience in software test engineering.
- 5 years full time use of National Instruments LabView
- Knowledge of Test Stand and C / CVI / C++ would also be an advantage.
- Good communication skills, both internally and with customers. Some commercial experience would be an advantage.
- Adept at imparting own knowledge as well as assimilating new experience
- Professional approach to software design source control and version management
