Principal/Release Electrical Engineers are now required at this leading car manufacturer in Norfolk to lead a small team of Engineers and designers to deliver technical solutions to project teams within required cost, quality and time targets.
In this role you will be responsible for the technical ownership of vehicle subsystems or component design within a project. You will prepare concept information and generate BOM. You will support the Project team in the generation of the Engineering Timing Release Schedule. You will also undertake tracking of progress and identifying and taking actions in order to achieve target dates. You will have responsibility for the technical direction to the CAD designers and integration engineers; creation, technical sign-off and release of component drawings, and work on FMEAs to support project requirements. You will provide support to the purchasing function in the selection of vendors and also to the Project team in the creation of harness package information.
Successful candidates will be educated to a minimum of HNC level in Electrical Engineering. Ideally you will have an automotive background, but applications are also welcome from candidate from other transport industries. You will be PC literate and have some knowledge of CAD. You must be willing to travel as some short and long haul travel may be required as part of the role. Some out of hours work may also be necessary.

You will carry out the transmittal of engineering information to downstream users as required and perform fit and function testing of subsystem components. Furthermore you will collate test results and concern reports and generate resulting modifications. You will provide support to the department; representing the engineering function to clients; to the Chief Engineer in generating planning and proposal information if required. You will provide support to the department in achieving the requirements of quality systems approval (QS 9000, Ford Q1 etc).
