The Principal Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing mechanical design expertise in support of new business developments in the area of power systems, power converter and motors.
Principal Mechanical Engineer
Reporting to the Future Business Group Manager, the Principal Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing mechanical design expertise in support of new business developments in the area of power systems, power converter and motors.
A primary focus of the Future Business Group is to align business strategy to that of customers and in support of this, a high degree of customer interaction will be required.
Working with specialists from other engineering disciplines, the successful candidate will provide mechanical design expertise in support of future business opportunities. This will include feasibility studies, technology developments, concept designs for new products and bids and proposals. The successful candidate will also be required to provide guidance and support to other mechanical engineers within the engineering community and to contribute towards the development of engineering excellence within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Provide the Future Business Group with mechanical engineering expertise in support of future business opportunities
Generate concept design proposals and feasibility studies to support future product development programmes
Contribute towards the engineering strategy of the business
Guidance and support to other mechanical engineers
Design review authority for mainstream projects
Contribute to the development of engineering excellence within the business
Personal Requirements
An honours degree in electrical engineering or close equivalent
Experience in the design of power conversion equipment is preferred
Visionary, enthusiastic and creative
Strong analytical skills
Experience in FEA and CFD
Working knowledge of safety and environmental legislation is essential
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and IT literate).
Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
