Geotechnical Engineers with Dam Experience, Client Relations and Business Development and Overseas experience, Western Degree essential.
Large US Civil Engineering Company Require a PRINCIPAL GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER to be based in CHICAGO U.S.A.
The position covers:
1. Technical Leader, Task Leader.
2. Lead Geotechnical engineer or project manager on large size projects.
3. Field and Office Assignments both domestically and internationally,
domestic and international travel.
4. Preparation and management of investigation programs, site
characterization, preparation of baseline reports.
5. Geotechnical analyses, including numerical modeling, FEM and other
Analyses; seepage and slope analysis; analysis and design of open
excavations, slopes, and embankments (including dams).
6. Construction materials for fills and aggregates.
7. Preparation of tender documents for construction .
8. Client Contact, management and relationship building may be part of the responsibilities for this position.
9. Supervisory responsibility: Will be expected to successfully direct and mentor staff engineers during project delivery and business development activities.
Applicants should:
MS degree in Geotechnical, Geological Engineering, or related field with 15+ years of relevant professional experience, or BS degree in same fields with 20+ years relevant professional experience.
Strong fundamental knowledge of principles of geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, earthquake engineering, and groundwater hydrology
Strong verbal and written communication skills; foreign language skills
valuable.
Demonstrated large/complex engineering skills. Demonstrated client
management skills.
Professional License or certification (PE or CEG) required.
Must have extensive project experience with field investigations, planning studies, detailed analyses and designs and construction services related to dams, reservoirs, tunnels, and underground structures for water conveyance and water resources projects.
Technical expertise in planning and supervision of geotechnical
investigations; feasibility studies and reports; foundation analyses;
preparation of technical specifications. baseline reports, and data
reports. Preparation and review of drawings.
Working knowledge of: numerical modeling and finite-element analysis; seismic hazard assessments; seismic analyses and designs; computer aided design/drafting; contract documents. cost estimating and scheduling.
Administrative experience in: project management; technical leader and/or task leader for variety of projects; budget and schedule management; resident engineering and/or construction management / administration.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be team oriented and able to work with diverse groups of people in various locations around the world. Foreign languages would be helpful.
