Description
Seeking a geo-environmental specialist to join our clients Manchester office at Principal Engineer level.
The successful candidate will be expected to act as one of the key technical and commercial representatives for the team,
and play a key role in developing the client base for geotechnical and contaminated land work within the North West.
The successful candidate will be one of the principal technical specialists for geotechnical and contaminated land issues within the North West business unit and will have responsibility for assisting in managing and developing the well established team of geo-environmental and environmental specialists, reporting to the Associate in charge of the Manchester team.
Key Competencies
Qualified to BSc. level in a relevant environmental science/engineering/geological discipline;
MSc. in a relevant geo-environmental discipline an advantage.
Experience:
The successful candidate should have extensive experience in environmental consultancy or equivalent experience in the public or private sector.Candidates should be experienced in the following areas:
The design, management and execution of desk studies and site investigations for brownfield site developments;
Current UK standards, methodologies and practice for the analysis of soil and water;
Current UK practice and methodologies for both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments in the context of current UK legislation;
Current UK practice for the remediation of contaminated land and a good knowledge of emerging remediation technologies;
Preparation and review of interpretative reports covering the investigation and assessment of brownfield sites which incorporate client focused and pragmatic remediation solutions that satisfy the requirements of the appropriate regulatory agencies and are compatible with engineering, budgetary and other constraints;
Experience in the site supervision of remediation works will also be an advantage;
Directing and managing staff to ensure project objectives are achieved;
Managing project programmes, resources and budgets to ensure projects are delivered to client requirements and return appropriate financial outcomes for the Company;
Liaising with and presenting technical information to other professionals and clients;
Client management and development;
Effective new and existing business development;
An astute commercial and practical understanding of business.
