Principal Development Engineer NVH
Our Client is a leading development partner of the automobile and engine industry with a proven and unique system competence in the area of combustion engines and engine peripherals. They are among the top 3 system suppliers for Piston Systems, Cylinder Components, Valve Train Systems, Air Management Systems and Liquid Management Systems.
The Role:
To work on the mechanical system projects
To maintain and implement mechanical systems and NVH capability both internally and externally
To develop experimental and analytical technical processes
To travel as required to support customer meetings and testing
To plan and supervise engine and vehicle build and test
To analyse test results
To prepare technical reports
To create test plans
To supervise complete project teams under a Project Manager
To prepare engineering program quotations
To monitor project progress and finance
To design parts for development testing
To liaise with program suppliers
To liaise with customers
To contribute to technical capability of the development department
Responsible for the quality of the test data, results analysis and report from the development section of a project
Responsible for adhering to or seeking deviation for the development procedures
Responsible for the clear instruction of staff using the appropriate procedures and forms
Responsible for feeding back test results to the internal and external customer in a timely manner
Requirements:
A Degree or HND with relevant experience
Professional qualifications as appropriate
A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the field of development engineering
Experienced in a broad range of mechanical systems and NVH areas of engine development, including:
Crank drive
Chain drive
Lubrication system
Breather system
Noise and vibration measurements
Friction measurement
Advanced instrumentation techniques
Familiar with both experimental and analytical processes
Technical competence at both a hands on and supervisory level
Understanding of both technical and commercial requirements of engineering projects, preferably gained within a consultancy
German language skills, advantageous not essential
Ability to supervise the work of others
Ability to work on own and as part of a team
Confidence to communicate effectively at all levels
Must be self motivated and the possess the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner and with appropriate attention to detail
Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints
Flexibility and willingness to travel to customer sites for both long and short durations (including secondments)
