An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principal Design Engineer to join this world-class supplier of innovative, high performance actuation systems and equipment for the aerospace and defence industry.
As Principal Design Engineer reporting to the Line Manager, you will be responsible for providing the conceptual and detailed design input into engineering projects at the system and sub-system level, in the field of mechanical, manufacturing, electronic or software engineering as appropriate.
You will also support technical proposals and submissions and provide an engineering input throughout all phases of the project across core markets as required.
In particular, you will be responsible for creating system and subsystem design specifications and where appropriate software requirements and interface specifications which capture and decompose the customers requirements. You will improve, develop and control the Engineering analysis facilities and you will be responsible for developing the level of competency in analysis techniques in other engineers and designers. Where appropriate, you will create standalone specifications for sub-contracts, which reflect the customer and Company requirements. You will also prepare design support documentation, conduct design calculations and maintain concise engineering records. In addition, you will liaise with the customer and assist production to ensure the produciblity of the design and the provision of special-to-type test equipment.
You will have full authority for conducting the tasks directed by the Line Manager and the Project Leader, where appropriate and for the technical supervision of any junior staff allocated to his tasks.
Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline, you will have substantial experience of working in an Aerospace/Defence environment, preferably in a hydraulics/ control/
