An international OEM seeks a Principal Engineer for their BIW department.
Main Activities/tasks:
> Plan and execution of manufacturing engineering activities from concept to production acceptance (NPI). - SOP + 90 days,
> Provide technical guidance to the engineering teams on all sites, ensuring that all outputs meet the requirements of the manufacturing facilities.
> Be the focal point for integration of product design into the manufacturing facility including supplier liaison.
> Provide feasibility on new or modified designs to ensure DFM & DFA criteria is met and maintained in line with best practice.
> Challenge conventions in order to ensure continual improvements
> Train and mentor manufacturing engineers in India in best practice,
manufacturing engineering tools and techniques
> Utilising your technical manufacturing knowledge in BIW, tooling and
mechanical assembly you will apply it at the concept and design phases
through qualification and into production.
Core Requirements
> Strong numeracy and literacy
> A minimum of five years automotive experience is essential
> Ability to inspire team to strive for improvements and high customer service
> Evidence of achieving results through effective leadership of team
> Able to translate business plan into individual objectives for staff
> Capable of managing a group of engineers and supports the Lead
> Engineers in the delivery of the performance objectives of their group
> Ability to overcome cultural barriers

> Based in Coventry, UK at TMETC offices.
> Regular travel to India is a fundamental part of the role, up 50% of working year may be in India but a minimum of 1 week in 4 is required if the individual is to be successful.
> Patience is required in understanding the local culture.
