Job Title: Pre-construction Manager

POSITION:
EPC Pre Construction Manager (Waste)

Based in Portchester, Portsmouth although candidates must be flexible in terms of hours worked and must be willing to travel to meet customers, partners and suppliers throughout the UK.

1. Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of the role is to provide a support to the project team during the pre-construction phase of the project.

2. Reporting To
Construction Executive, Group Business Development.

3. Main Responsibilities

(a) Pre Construction
Taking a leading role for the management of the preconstruction phase in respect of
Completeness of information in the building contract
Liaison with the building contractor and his team to ensure that clients interests are protected
Direction to the Project Management Support provider ensuring Value for Money from their services
Liaison with the process suppliers to ensure integration with the building works.
Ownership of the construction programme
Liaising with commercial team
Reviewing of drawings and documents to ensure coordination and appropriateness
Overall responsibility for document control and distribution
Briefing of the EPC Project Manager for the Construction Phase and management of the handover to the construction phase team

(b) Strategy
Providing support to the team by documenting the processes for the pre-construction and construction phases of the project, for use in future projects.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

1. Attainment/Achievement
Construction background
Degree in construction related discipline

2. General Intelligence
Above average with the ability to analyse, understand and challenge issues and information quickly and thoroughly.

3. Background / Experience
Experience at senior level of managing a significant construction site, as the senior manager for either the client or contractor.
Experience of planning and delivery of civils and building construction and of integrating complex process plant or equipment into a project including design management.
Detailed understanding of the CDM Regulations, 2007.

4. Special Aptitudes/Competencies
Ability to produce detailed project programmes and interrogate and analyse them to verify their robustness
