Description

A Spacecraft Power System Design Engineer is required to work within a small team of electrical system engineers in undertaking the design and analysis of Spacecraft Power Subsystems including Solar Arrays, Batteries, Power Conditioning and Power Distribution Units..

The successful candidate will require the following qualifications and skills:
Honours Degree in an Electrical and Electronic or Space Systems/Aeronautics Engineering discipline, minimum Upper Second class honours,
Good written and oral presentation skills
Computer literate
Ability to work in a team.
An MSc in above subjects would be desirable

Proven experience in Electrical System design and implementation is essential
Desirable:
Knowledge of Spacecraft Electrical Power Systems
Spacecraft Power Equipment development
Procurement

You will have good problem solving skills to work within a small team of electrical system engineers in undertaking the design and analysis of Spacecraft Power Subsystems including Solar Arrays, Batteries, Power Conditioning and Power Distribution Units.
The role will involve working on a range of activities, including proposal writing, Power Subsystem architectural design and analysis, Solar Array and Battery performance analysis and sizing to meet mission needs, generation of equipment requirement specifications, technical subcontract management of equipment suppliers for Solar Arrays, Batteries, Power Conditioning and Power Distribution Units and involvement in Power subsystem implementation, test and verification activities.

The successful candidate will possess:
The ability to lead the development of Power Subsystem Architectures for Satellite applications
Knowledge of Solar Array, Battery and Power Conditioning and Distribution Technologies including DET and MPPT
Good understanding of interface requirements and definition
Experience in generation of requirements and writing specifications
Proven ability to monitor and provide technical support to sub-contractors/supplier
Proven ability to liaise with other team members, report progress and maintain schedules
Provide design definitions, test requirements, performance reports, review presentations and participate in key reviews
Interface with and provide responses to customer representatives
Work to ISO 9001and knowledge of EEE parts
Support all phases of Studies and Projects
Understanding of Spacecraft Integration, Test and Performance Verification
Be able to travel overseas to work for short periods
Knowledge of Spacecraft Operations would be desirable
Experience of responding to RFPs as part of a bid team is also desirable

Successful candidates will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
