Power Electronics Engineer required by leading company involved in aerospace, climate control and many other areas.
You must be able to design with 1200V IGBT devices from 10 to 100A, when applied in industrial products switching between 2kHz to 10kHz and have experience of the design of inverter power stages for the control of ac motors from 1kW to 100kW.
The engineer will require a comprehensive knowledge of the theory and practice relating to the operation of industrial variable speed drives or similar power electronic products, and understand the design constraints when applying IGBTs, with regard to temperature, mechanical layout, switching frequency, short circuit proof operation, EMI.
A working knowledge of permanent magnet servo motors and induction motors would also be an advantage.
The Engineer should be capable of designing to achieve the highest performance for an advanced drive or the optimum performance for a low cost product.
The engineer should be able to design gate drive and device protection circuits to optimise the use of an IGBT.
