PLANT ENGINEER
SYNTHETIC RUBBER MANUFACTURER
SOUTHAMPTON
A Plant Engineer is now required at this synthetic rubber manufacturer for its Hythe plant, based near Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical maintenance and reliability of the finishing area. As Plant Engineer you will be responsible for mechanical reliability and maintenance of plant in designated area; the development and implementation of preventive maintenance strategies and also for the co-ordination with other disciplines involved electrical, instrument, scaffolding etc.
As Plant Engineer your specific responsibilities will include planning and organisation of maintenance activities ensuring safe systems of work; failure analysis and preparation of technical specifications for repairs and improvements. You will undertake technical supervision of maintenance work and make efficient use of maintenance resources respecting budgets and timescales. You will work order control within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP) and also undertake plant inspection (mechanical machinery, pressure systems, lifting equipment etc). The Plant Engineer will work within the broad direction provided by the Mechanical Engineer. In this role you will work in accordance with Company procedures, Works Instructions, Business targets etc.
Successful candidates will be ONC qualified or equivalent in Mechanical engineering with maintenance experience in a process or similar industrial environment. You will be able to analyse failures and implement short and long term solutions to technical problems. You will also need hands on experience and knowledge of mechanical machinery e.g. presses, conveyors, pumps and gearboxes.

An ability to work closely with the Plant Manager and production supervisors is essential. Excellent communication skills will be necessary as you will be working closely with other Plant Engineers, planners, suppliers and contractors etc. Articulate with a good numeric ability, you will also be self motivating and an enthusiastic team member.
