Pipeshop / Mechanical Manager required for a major UK Shipbuilder.

Pipeshop / Mechanical Manager required for a major UK Shipbuilder.

Key responsibilities:

- Overseeing the day to day running of the Pipeshop procesesses and personnel including Team Leaders and Charge Hands,
- Facilitate the necessary logistics involved in integrating Ship Support in to the areas work scope,
- Oversee the integration transition period to ensure an efficient and smooth hand over with minimal disruption to current productivity,
- Help to develop the Ship Support processes to maximise efficiency,
- Put in place any resource or equipment necessary to achieve the above and monitor progress. Change and refine where applicable.
- Liaise between Ship Support, Pipeshop planning and Despatch area,
- When necessary, organise out of hours working to accommodate emergency work,
- Analyse and prioritise Pipe Shop manufacture programme,
- Monitor strike rates closely and react when necessary,
- Establish a solid link between Pipeshop planning and shop floor capabilities by conducting regular dialogue sessions between shop floor personnel, planning personnel and project planners,
- Conduct regular audits of material supply and deficiencies and address accordingly,
- Organise shift and weekend working when necessary, assist the Mechanical Manager in assessing the most efficient way forward,
- Co-ordinate the shift groups, arranging handovers or job allocation.

Role Requirements:

- A good understanding of the Shipbuilding / marine industry,
- Management and development of the team,
- Providing clear objectives.

The successful candidate will:

- Have a proven track record in leading and managing multi disciplined teams and have a mechanical bias having completed either a time served apprenticeship or other relevant mechanical qualification,
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism within the department and with customers.
