Payload Systems Engineer

The core objective of the role is the definition, design and specification of the Galileo Navigation Payload and RF and digital sub-systems. This will be achieved through analysis of payload and system level requirements, payload architecture trade-offs, payload performance analysis and derivation of sub-system and unit requirements. Particular emphasis is placed on assessment of compliance with performance parameters which relate directly to overall system performance (such as payload timing accuracy and stability) through analysis and modelling of system requirements including Signal In Space trade-offs, operational modes etc.

Particular emphasis is placed on assessment of compliance with performance parameters which relate directly to overall system performance (such as payload timing accuracy and stability) through analysis and modelling of system requirements including Signal In Space trade-offs, operational modes etc.

The role will entail interfaces with end user, customer and satellite responsible at all levels and therefore will involve a high degree of organisation and flexibility in terms of overseas travel.

The role includes generation of proposals and design review documentation and presentation of this material to internal and external customers. Support to generation of payload validation and test strategy, analysis of customer test requirements and flow down to equipment specifications, in consultation with the customer, generation of the payload Validation Plan and DVM in generation of payload test requirements for all programme phases up to and including in-orbit test, support to AIT during integration and test during all phases in order to resolve technical issues and ensure satisfactory completion of the validation programme, support to and liaison with Spacecraft level AIT.

In addition this position foresees some participation in non-navigation payload projects/proposals/studies, design and process improvement initiatives at departmental and corporate level, training and mentoring of other engineering staff
