Payload Engineering Manager
An experienced RF systems engineer/manager is required to lead the payload systems engineering team and take responsibility for the systems engineering on a civil communications payload project.
The role will also involve carrying out, or delegating as appropriate, related tasks such as system design, system specification, system analysis, system integration, specification and definition of hardware, liaison with customer representatives, attendance at design reviews and meetings.
Support to platform/payload integration and testing will also be necessary and will involve some overseas travel.

The successful candidates will have:
BSc qualification in a relevant discipline
Long proven relevant post-graduate engineering experience
Team leadership skills
A methodical approach to work, with sufficient commitment and drive complete tasks, even where adverse
conditions are encountered
Strong analytical skills
Experience of working directly with customers and with the ability to present ideas and concepts to the customer with authority.
Ability efficiently to organise and co-ordinate their work.
Ability to generate innovative solutions and to communicate them
A willingness to travel overseas
Specific tasks will include several of the following:
Directing and coordinating payload systems engineering team
Systems engineering management, including cost/schedule management
Payload system design
Perform/assess trade-offs of payload architecture and interfaces
Payload RF system performance analysis
Requirements analysis
Equipment specification development and hardware definition
Design review of payload equipment designs (antenna, active RF, filters, interface)
Validation and test strategy development and specification
Support to payload/platform integration and testing
Liaison with customer representatives and participation in design reviews and meetings
Experience required:
Mandatory:
A proven track record and long proven post graduate engineering experience in RF communications
systems or equipments.
Strong technical competence combined with team leadership qualities
Desirable:
Experience in several of the following:
Spaceborne communications system design and analysis
Payload system design and analysis
Payload integration, validation and test
Payload equipments design/build/test (e.g. HPA,LNA s, DSP s, Filters, Antennas)
Digital and analogue communications
System, sub-system, and equipment specification writing
Requirements management
Tools/Equipment
Mandatory: PC literate, MS Office
Desirable: PV Wave, Visual basic, DOORS
Qualifications:
Mandatory: BSc in Engineering/ Electronics/Science/Mathematics
Desirable: Higher degree in Communications/Aerospace Engineering
Personal Qualities
Team player with leadership qualities, well organised, communicative and determined, with the ability to work on their own initiative.
