An excellent permanent opportunity has arisen for a Production Planning Engineer in Portsmouth, South of England. The Mechanical Engineer will work within the Production Planning Department of Engineering and Ship Support.
The successful applicant will have proven experience in a similar role and will have prime responsibility for creating work break down and zone structures. Principle accountabilities will also include:
- To identify the work by worklist / paragraph that needs to be planned.
- Apply Production Planning methodology to group discreet elements of work.
- Establish and maintain close liaison with satellite centres, sub contractors and production line managers and other elements of PPMC in order to agree structure.
- Carry out evaluation of WBS as part of the continuous improvement process.
- Identify work specification issues for resolution and supply feedback on technical issues.
- Active participation in the evaluation process to improve structures for future projects.
Candidates will have served a recognised apprenticeship within a marine / ship repair organisation and have in depth knowledge of production installation / repair structures and processes. Having a proven track record in refit / installation / repair at either Fitter or Team Manager level. It is essential that to have good knowledge of RN platforms and systems.
Candidates should have the capability to interface with other departments and production teams on a technical level and will also be IT literate with the ability to implement new processes.
