Excellent opportunity for an experienced PCB layout engineer
My client, a leading broadcast equipment design / manufacturer, have an opportunity for a PCB CAD layout engineer
The successful candidate will be a member of the CAD department supporting a number of project teams in the layout of printed circuit boards, using Mentor Graphics Boardstation CAD tools, in a commercial environment, working to challenging timescales and budgets.
You will be required to work closely with teams of Hardware Design Engineers, where you will be responsible for the layout of complex multi-layer SMT and PTH PCBs using Mentor Graphics Boardstation PCB design tools. Typical boards are 14 layers (up to 24 layers), with mixed digital/analogue sections, high speed signals and high component densities, including fine-pitched BGA devices. You will have to support the hardware designers during the schematic capture phases and be responsible for taking their schematics through to board layout and creation of all PCB manufacturing files and liaison with the PCB manufacturers and assemblers.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
1) Extensive experience of Mentor Graphics Boardstation/BoardstationRE CAD tools. Including Design Architect, Librarian, Package, Layout and Fablink. (EN2004 onwards) working on a UNIX (Solaris) and Linux (Red Hat) operating systems
2) Experienced in high-speed layout techniques and requirements, including use of blind, buried and stacked microvias
3) Gerber checking tools, such as GCPreview.
4) Able to develop most suitable and cost effective layer builds and via technology for boards that will include multiple controlled impedance tracking and high-speed routing techniques
5) Excellent PC skills
6) Good knowledge of current lead-free PCB manufacturing processes and materials
7) DFM & DFT
DESIREABLE SKILLS:
1) Experience of CES and RE High-speed design rule tools
2) Working in an LMS environment including component library creation and management.
3) Script writing/editing to enhance CAD applications (AMPLE, C, MS Excel macros etc)
4) Familiar with PRO-E Mechanical CAD system and thermal analysis tools
