Description

Operations Support Engineer (Electronic/Test) - As part of the Product Engineeing & New Product Introduction processes, the role of the Operations Support Engineer (Electronic/Test) is to support the introduction of New Products in to manufacturing and to provide support to the manufacturing department, drawing particularly on their electronic/test experience. The Operations Support Engineer will be required to interface with all areas of the Company and with sub-contractors, to ensure "right first time" easy to manufacture and test designs, at lowest credible cost and achieving the right product quality.

Key Responsibilities
Main activities - Early involvement with Engineering & Design Office to ensure products are adequately designed for manufacture and test. Define methods of manufacture/test and produce routing & operating instructions. Plan and implement manufacturing shop floor layouts adopting Lean Manufacturing principles. Introduce innovation to production methods in order to achieve improved manufacturing efficiency. Initiate manufacture/purchase of tooling and design/manufacture fixtures to support the manufacturing processes. Provide technical support to resolve shop floor or sub-contractor problems related to products or processes.

Skills and Experience
Proven track record in production engineering and process improvement with significant experience of electronic and electromechanical manufacturing and assembly processes, including experience of Printed Circuit Board assembly techniques.


Experence
HNC/eqiv in Electronic/Electrical Production Engineering.Test experience in RF and/or Digital comunications equipment is desirable.

Key Competencies
Competent in the use of Office, Engineering Product Data Manager (PDM) and Manufacturing System (ERP/MRP) software tools.

Personal Attributes
A self motivated, resourceful, tenacious, hands-on engineer with the ability to utilise problem solving skills in the resolution of challenges. A confident outgoing personality with the stature and presence to hold his/her own in a challenging operational environment.

Test experience in RF and/or Digital comunications equipment is desirable.
