Operations Manager
To be responsible for the efficient running of the operations department including contract execution, supervision of staff and HSEQ implementation


Responsibilities: (Health Safety Environment and Quality)

• Promote a high standard of Health, Safety and Environmental awareness within the business
• Attend safety meetings including operations safety meetings on site
• Ensure Health and Safety takes priority over any other issue and demonstrate leadership

Quality
• Promote a high standard of quality
• Be responsible for ensuring that staff and operatives follow procedures and method statements
• Actively change systems to improve quality
• Carry out procedural reviews when required

Personnel
• Lead the Operations staff
• Engender a good team spirit within the office and site
• Carry out performance reviews and mentoring
• Identify training needs and organise training
• Be a DE for graduate trainee and encourage development leading to chartered status

Team Organisation
• Set the budget for the team (annually) and monitor performance against this budget

Business Development
• Continue with targeted customer philosophy, increasing the amount of negotiated work
• Approve and clear tenders up to the prescribed clearance limit

Operations
• Ultimately responsible for contract performance
• Approve contract expenditure up to prescribed clearance limits
• Review contract performance monthly with Commercial Manage

Innovation
• Seek to improve processes, methods and techniques


Skills/Essential:
• Be able to work on construction sites
• A good level of numeracy and be analytical in nature
• Ability to cope with deadlines
• Able to work alone and as part of a team
• Self motivated
• Be a good team leader

Desirable
• Be able to write reports using good English
• Anything to demonstrate leadership
• Be able to motivate others

Education: Essential
• HNC - Civil Engineering or Similar

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Essential:

• Current working knowledge of regional housing market and its key players


EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

Essential
• HNC in Civil Engineering or similar.
• Proven experience in a similar role.
• Computer literate particularly with EXCEL.
• Must have a full UK driving licence

Desirable:
• Autocad and other use of software.
• Degree and associated piling experience.

Working Arrangements (Need for travel etc.):
• Be relatively local to the office or prepared to move.

Normal Working Hours :
• 40 hours per week (Monday- Friday 09:00 - 17:30)
