Job purpose:
The Systems team at the SEIC perform strongly on project and programme delivery. Although the SEIC has an R&T focus, it must operate efficiently and effectively, meeting orders, sales, margin, and hours targets. Currently, the major responsibility for this rests on the Group Leaders who also have demanding line management, project, and technical workloads. To add to our ability to grow and to build on our recent successful record of accomplishment there is a need to expand the delivery team through the inclusion of an Operational Support Manager reporting to the Management Head.
Key responsibility areas:
Based at the SEIC in Loughborough, the jobholder will be responsible for:
Supporting the BAE Systems management team in delivering programmes and projects to time and budget, including leading the internal monthly business reviews;
Helping meet orders targets through coordination of bid preparation, ad hoc responsibility for prosecution of prospects, supporting the preparation of relevant financial and commercial information, and leading the internal bid review phases of the LCM process, coordinating closely with the owner(s) of related technical review processes and the Business Development team;
Helping meet sales targets by improving the integrity and accuracy of S&OP data, ensuring each deliverable and its corresponding customer acceptance are logged, and enabling the raising of invoices in a timely manner;
Coordinating the preparation of the various financial and managerial reports required by TES each month, including preparation / coordination of all relevant forecasts;
Coordinating the preparation of comprehensive, detailed project work-plans that both meet all milestones and satisfy competing project requirements / resource constraints as advised by Group Leaders / Management Head, including maintenance of an overall, up to date resource plan;
Coordinating the preparation of reports and data needed by the Management Head as inputs to the SEIC management and strategy groups;
Coordinating the preparation of reports and data needed by the Management Head as inputs to the customer reviews of the SEIC programmes and projects;
Identifying operational process and performance improvement opportunities, formulating implementation plans, and, where approved, delivering against these plans.
